I was so happy about how my Blog-Birthday-Nails turned out, that I used this weeks color for “Lacke in Farbe … und Bunt!” by Lena and Cyw – “petrol” (teal) – to give this look (and the free-handed – free-handed! 😀 – large french) another try:
I even was bold enough to use the glitter on top, and not as cheat to mask the flaws of the french. 😀
I used two teal colored polishes for this (and a bit of glitter, because, well, Glitter! 😉 ), both from essence. “let’s get lost” is a lighter and more blue-ish shade of teal, a great cream that is opaque after two coats, and with careful application might even be a one-coater. It is a bit of a [insert favourite curse-word here] with staining, so be careful with removal and really, really use a good basecoat (and if all else fails, scrubbing your nails with toothpaste is a great way to get rid of the worst).
“miss universe” is a very dark version of teal and has a jelly-like base, but comes packed with so much green and blue shimmer, that it will be opaque with two coats if you wear it on its own.
EDIT: I bought this polish right after it came out (it has that “new” sticker essence uses), but it looks like it changed over time and is thinner and needs more coats now. You can read about frautaubenblaus very different experience in her review of “miss universe” (german only).
As usual with essence polishes, application and drying time are fine.
The french is still far from perfect, but I am actually quite happy with the look. Expect to see more like that in the future. 😉
