This weeks color for “Lacke in Farbe … und Bunt!” by Lena and Cyw – “taubenblau” (pigeon blue) – was surprisingly hard. One would think that if I like a color so much I use a very similar shade as background and for the banner on top on this very blog, I would have quite a few polishes of that color as well. Unfortunately, I only found one that came close, and I am not sure if it isn’t too dark or leans too much to teal:
“Gray by Gray” is a very pretty dusty blue-toned cream polish from Sally Hansen and part of their Complete Salon Manicure Range.
The Complete Salon Manicure promises to be the Swiss Army Knife of polishes: base coat, strengthener, growth treatment, color, top coat, chip-resistant and gel shine all combined in one polish that is supposed to last for up to 10 days.
But I am afraid they put a little too much on their plates with these claims. I don’t dare using a highly pigmented polish like this without an extra layer of base coat protection, and it isn’t different on my nails to other polishes when it comes to chip-resistance and shine. It chips after my regular few days, if I don’t use an extra layer of top coat even faster. I can’t say anything about strengthener and growth treatment, as I a) take good care of my nails anyways and b) don’t wear it long enough to see a difference.
But that doesn’t mean I don’t like this range. 😉
It is highly pigmented and with carefull application might even work as one-coater. The brush is my favourite shape, wide and slightly rounded at the tip.
So you just might want to ignore all the promises Sally Hansen made with this range, and simply enjoy it as a regular pretty polish – and if some of these claims actually work on your nails, that’s an additional plus to be happily surprised about. 😀
Since I already did feathers as a cheesy joke when “taupe” came up, I took my smallest brush this time and painted the plumage pattern of a pigeon on the accent nails. 🙂

Gute Idee mit dem Akzent 🙂
Danke Binara. 🙂
Also ich finde deine Farbwahl _perfekt_ taubenblau!
*gurr, gurr* 😀 😉
