Tinted gradient

This first entry for the third round of “Lacke in Farbe … und Bunt!” comes with a happy and a sad face – happy, because there IS a third round, but also a bit sad because Cyw had to quit as host. Thank you Cyw for starting this event with Lena, and hosting two fantastic rounds which were a lot of fun. ❤

I wanted to use a different polish for todays color – “gelb” (yellow) – at first, but then my new OPI Sheer Tints arrived earlier than expected, and I was itching to give them a try:

Like the name suggests the tints are very sheer (Duh! 😀 ), even more sheer than your regular jelly polish. They are supposed to be used as top coat, which explains the amazing fast drying time, and the slightly different texture, which is more smooth and glossy.

I was a bit afraid because I read that they tend to be quite gloppy and need to be thinned down, but mine seem to be ok. In fact, at least the yellow one was quite runny, and I more than once accidentally flooded the sides of my nails. But it was also very easy to clean up, so this was quickly fixed. 🙂

For the gradient effect, I painted four coats of “I’m Never Amberrassed” over white nails, each coat starting closer to the tip. If you look closely, you can see the line where the new coat starts. I am actually a little disappointed that it isn’t more pronounced, as this “striped” look was what I was aiming for.

But I love, love, love these tints, be sure to see more of them in the future. 🙂
