Newly minted pennies

For this weeks color of “Lacke in Farbe … und Bunt!” – “kupfer” (copper) – I decided to be bold and use a Catrice polish again. 😀

“Metalight” was part of the “Metallure” LE Catrice brought out in August. I bought the LE at a time when I wasn’t pretty much done with Catrice because of their terrible, terrible brush, and I already showed “Metalfusion” when “anthracite” came up in the current round.

“Metalight” has a very light copper color, with a slight touch of pink, like newly minted pennies. Although it is not a perfect dupe, its color is very close to the much-loved “Penny Talk” by essie (as you can see here and here). I actually used “Penny Talk” for the nail art on the accent nails, and there is very little difference.

I don’t want to talk in detail about the brush, I think by now everybody knows how bad it is, and how much I detest it. 😀 In this case, I was so fed up with it after the first coat, that I switched to an essence brush I saved from an old bottle of clear polish.

Apart from that (and after I switched brushes), application and drying time were ok, and it was fully opaque after two coats. But since this is a metallic polish, it comes with the usual pattern of brush strokes. 😉

I kept the nail art simple again, and used a small brush and some different copper-colored polishes for a quick wavy pattern.

Base coat: p2 hands & nails calcium gel
Main color: Catrice Metallure C03 Metalight (two coats)
Stripes (accent nails): p2 catch the glow 030 bronzed glow, p2 catch the glow 050 copper flash, essie Mirror Metallics Penny Talk
Top Coat: Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat
