Cyws “Mottomonat” goes into its second year (Thank God! 😀 ) and the first theme for 2015 is “Grunge”. This was the perfect occasion to finally try “distressed nails”:
I started with “Light Dove”, a dirty nude. Like most light colors, this polish usually needs three coats to be 100% perfect, but since most of it wouldn’t be visible anyway, I was ok with two coats.
For the “distressed” effect, I wiped off the brushes of my color polishes until there was almost no polish left, and then painted in light strokes over my nails.
It left a surprisingly rough surface, but I think in this case that adds to the “grunge” look as well. 🙂
I think I was actually a bit too carefull and wiped off too much polish, and the result looks more like a splatter manicure. But I still like the look a lot, and I will definitely try this technique again. 🙂
